Hi guys ,went on the water tonight and started ski first pop ,rode around for a minute and it started to sound like it was running 1 cylinder ,put new plugs in and adjusted low speed ,went out again and ski just died complety, ski will not start now what should i start with first ?? how far should the high and low be set at ,also could it be the coil? also i have disconnected the stop switch ,so dont think it is that
Sounds like its fuel to me but first off check if you have a spark., Does the plug look wet? Turned the fuel tap on? Is it getting fuel to the carbs? Could be anything but start with the basics, spark and fuel.
right ,just went to start ski and it started after second try but then died a few seconds later ,it a 701 twin carb sj ,i have just had carbs rebuilt and new jets put in over winter but has been on the water a few times and seemed to work fine ,what should i set the low adjustment at ?it is about 1-3/4 at the moment
also i have removed fuel tap and first thing yesterday plugs were very dry so adjusted it out ,but made it run worse so set it back to 1-3/4 now they seem to be wet ?
yeah tested cdi and it was giving some real weird readings, nothing that is should have but i have always had problems testing cdi"s, Also which way does the flywheel nut go to remove it and also what is the easiest way to do it ?
No resistance at all thats weird they normally have some even when they burn out the windings its ethier heaps or not enough not normally anything Measure all the wires resitance to earth and post on here I need to know if its a 61x stator or a 62t stator
ok its a 62t and black - white/red =14.6ohms black-green =nothing black-green=nothing black - brown/white = nothing flywheel is being a bitch to remove ,any ideas on good way to remove?
ok dont worry about the black to green so much thats what charges your battery I mean it matters but it will not stop your ski running the black red is your pulse coil and thats fine black -brown white that your coil that fires up the cdi there is your issue Sounds weird that you have an issue with all 3 at once, assuming it was charging the battery before Ok well front cover off and have a look For it to run for about 8 mins the cut out is very common for the cdi coil
yeah i dont think it has been charging the battery for a while never really bothered me , does the flywheel nut turn anticlock wise i put some bolts in the flywheel and put bar between and wedged it on a block of wood , tryed turning it but just ended up bending the bolts ,i have a air impact wrench would that be best ?
There may be nothing wrong with your lighting coil - the one that charges the battery. There is no connection to earth on that one... you should have about 1.2 ohms when measuring from one green wire to the other.
yeah i just realised when i pulled it appart fault found to be broken brown wire ,rejoined it and now its giving me a resistace of 368ohms is that close enough or should i replace it anyway?
lol its been drizzling ,going to get flywheel lightened while it is of so hopefully be on water next weekend
