And i get called the RETARD I backed mark and gave him the same advice but got the impression he wanted to do it himself, so was making sure he used the right stuff and got a fair deal "Aquanob do things myself CHEAP" fuck it up, get someone else to fix it.
Hey bros bit of an update. Finally pulled my motor out, I can turn it over by hand no probs, but starter is constantly engaged. So i'm picking that's the prob right there! Will comp test whilst I've got it out anyway.
Actually no, pretty sure I fucked it. 100 psi both cylinders with added 'i'm fucked'squealing upon turn over. Lol ah well.
the low comp could be from your engine turning over slow (assuming that the stuffed starter or bendix gear is slowing it down) have you taken the started out & flywheel cover off to see the damage?
Yea I removed flywheel cover, can't see any obvious signs, bar a wee spring poking out the clutch. I've charged the battery, will see if that helps today. This motor is so awesome to work in thou, only letdown is the Riva pipe. That's a c*nt.
Ahhhh yea, will let pictures do the talking.... Bore isn't badly scoured, this is the opposite still good bore. What would cause those pits in the dome?
Pits are from shit hitting the head. Not a major. some were in the past a needle bearing has let go and caused that. I think
Lol once it's going again will ask you guys about tuning. That seems complicated. Figured a way to get it hooked up to a dyno too hehe. So rebore obviously, anything else to look into? I see someones had a hoon with a die grinder around the ports already.
I think you will need a Re bore (if theres enough left in the liners), New pistons, rings and check the crank shaft for wear. I think I have a yamaha SJ manual on file if you want the specs.
Thanks man, have blaster manual already New question, my waterbox is cracked around the inlet, the metal pipe is detached slightly from the box itself. Should I glue/glass the shit outta it? Or should I put a diff waterbox in? I've heard of raider ones being put in, what is the benefit of this? Can't wait to ride this thing again!
