I am considering getting a standup and saw this in Trademe:

I want to geta Yamaha because it shares a lot of parts with my blaster... but want to know what the advantages / enhancements are in the RN compared to a SN and hence is it worth spending the extra money?

The SN and RN have the same bottom it is only the top that is different. If you are getting a SN try get it with a 701 (1994-1995 I think) All RN are exactly the same between 96-07.....

That looks like a pretty good buy, just chuck in some footholds and away ya go...for that price you can't really go wrong.

...But, I wish I'd spent a bit more and gone with a RN from the start. I've got a SN, its ok but the positioning of the pole etc of the RN's is much better. Think the SN is a good place to start (especially for 2.5K), but you'll be wanting a RN before long.

if the rn pole posi is better, what do you gain by the 'lower, forwarder' kit?

The SN pole position is better than the RN IMO
