Im just wondering what sort of impellers you guys are running and if anyone has had a play around with it?
I am getting Roger to bring me one home from the States tomorrow. Its the hell flatwater trick prop.
Set back Solas with a 13/15 pitch
Has anyone played with pitch that low before? Or close to it?
Id be interested to hear what its like.

I'm running a standard solas 13/17 concord in my ski. It hooks up alot better than the stock impeller and it adds some more bottom end punch to the ski :) Chenzo what impeller are you running in your ski at the moment? It better not be stock .....

Na its not standard but im not sure of the pitch, i havent had the pump apart to look yet.

The 13/17 Concord is an awesome freeride prop but I want something with more punch than that. Il lose alot of top end going the way I am but im not to worried cos flat out dragging isnt my idea of fun and its not good for the engine either.

I looked at a 12/16 Skat trak but decided to go for the Set back 13/15 Solas as its specifically designed for freestyle.
No one seems to advertise any purpose built props on their websites. Roger had to find this Solas one as it wasnt listed on any sites I could find.

I think you start off with a higher pitched impeller then get it cut back, like they do at www.impros.com (ive never seen a 13/15 solas impeller before). that impeller should be awesome with your motor set up

The impellor is an Impros one thats why its not advertised I guess?
    Hopefully it cranks hard! lol

the US surf & free style guys seem to either run the Solas concord or a Skat trak free ride swirl, both have a curved leading edge that helps with cavatation and bite in frothy water.

Getting them set back 3-5mm also helps with cavatation I hear.

Appparantly the Solas needs the pitch checked as they vary a bit straight out the factory, where as the Scat is more consistent.

The solas is lighter that the scat, about 1.5 lbs compaired to 2 lbs form memory which may help the solas accelerate better but the solar is supposed to slip a wee bit on initial take off.

Dave from Impros.com recommended to me a 13/15 Scat cut back 5 mm for the surf. I ended up sending him one I got off e-bay but in the end it only saved me about 40 US.

The surf has been crap for the last 3 weeks so I haven't even bothered to take my ski out to try the scat impeller.

    Dean.

oh..... some pics I found..... the solas is on the left.

How long was the turn around on your impeller job?
Roger has got mine but Droughty was going to get one as well but they didnty have two.
Was thinking I might seen if mine goes alright and then maybe get one made up for Droughty and shipped.
What was the shipping costs like?

It took them 1 month to send it after less that a week to fix/repitch it, Dave went away and he said the guys didn't know how to sent it to NZ....... lucky I was not in a hurry.

He wanted $260 US for a new scat repitched to 13/15 with a 5 mm cutback.

Freight was 30 or 40 US to send mine home. I got it off e-bay in the US.

Just took my pump apart, ive been running a 20 - 26... Leading edge was a bit banged up.

    Going to put a 19 - 24 back in...

FX1 though, pumps are smaller and generally higher pitch.

    I run a -3mm Solas Concord 13/16...

Actually, I have two, as they get muched up pretty fast in the surf.

That prop with with 185psi, 35 deg inital advance and a total loss is easily powerful enough to pull a clean flatwater roll, I think anything less would see me slipping.
