have ran out of Yamalube, and wondering whether i buy more, or get something else this time.... have heard yamalube is crap compared even to some of the much cheaper options. What do you guys recommend? my ski is standard.

Do i need to drain the tank before i start with the new brand of oil incase it goes all jelly-ish?

a green oily gremlin on my shoulder told me.

haven't ridden my ski long enough to notice its claimed crappness yet though... what's so bad about it?

Yamalube always used to make my spark plugs turn black. Also I siezed my motor on yamalube. I run valvoline two stroke outboard which lucas gets in and never had a problem since.

  9. Ive run my yesteryear ski's & present SJ on 2 stroke Putoline oil and had no probs - touch wood - but more importantly you get a cool Putoline Lubricants sticker with the container.

most motorcycle shops sell the motul stuff

i use castrol TTS, have used it in bikes for the last 15 years, however i just had a ski engine meltdown... dont think its related to oil though

what sort of yamalube did u use captain? Was it 2M or 2W?? You are supposed to use 2W for watercraft and 2M for Outboards, Our yamaha dealer down here seems to give you 2M when you say you have a superjet i dont know why, i just get the 2W

Me and a couple of guys use yamalube 2m, we are a yamaha marine dealer and hav no problems with it and it better priced than others, i tryd yamalube 2w and didnt like it as it looked like it didnt wana mix well with the gas.
But if you change oil in your oil tank u have to clean it as it not good to mix the oils.

I was told by a dealer in Penrose that 2m is designed for direct mix with the petrol and 2w is only for oil injection or seperate oil tank applications.

2w is a watercraft oil, it has propertys for the cadaltic convertors which are in sum watercraft and can be used in other watercraft just not outboards, well thats my understanding of it.

yup the yamaha dealer here refuses to sell 2w to us for the SJ's says its for oil injection only and not for premixing.

i just stick with the valvoline 2 stroke marine, cheaper and no probs, come to mention it, the black oily plugs hasnt happened to me since ceasing use of both yamalubes.

2m is made for all the 2stroke ski where the 2w is made for the gp1300 because of the cat.i have alwayed used 2m and castrol tts and never had any troubles.

...I'm not sure one can really tell what protections being achieved until the engine gets stripped down... I think seizing is too late .

I've always used valvoline, while guys I ski with use yamalube...doesn't really seem to be any major wear issues with either inside the motor.
