A well set up single will have better throttle response than a badly setup set of twin carbs

what are you trying to do with your boat
and whats the setup on it now
I need to know this before i can offer a setup
But i would always pick twins over a single for myself

Ive bing having trobble with a miss that comes and goes and i have put it down to a faulty coil, its standard other than a drypipe with water injection which i go of capt white sox, boysen reeds and now im guna go msd ign and coils. its jst a surf/freestyle boat..
Ive jst bing told that a good single single carb would b bettr.
    thanks for da help

    dual 44s would be awesome
get rid of the water injection it will go heaps better
what jets are in the 38s now

Have you cut the leads back 1 inch and put ngk caps on it

but make sure you disconect the water injection

Check the pop off is working right and not sticking..

You could argue til you are blue in the face benefits of single -> duals. I liked singles coz they are easy to work on and around, and easy to tune.. I think there are some applications where duals are needed for full benefit.. And ive just gone from single 46 -> dual 38s and now trialling some dual 46s.. seems less agressive from 46 to twin 38s .. but a smoother more reliable power. Haven't run the 46s yet, but they sound the best on the trailer!

From memory Captn ran dual 38 140H/75L stock needle and seat / spring with that application.

Yea this setup went really hard when whitesox had it .

He had a stock 701 with dual 38’s and a MSD enhancer. With that dry pipe with water injection.

The water injection made a big difference to giving more bottom end and getting rid of the miss…so I wud definitely leave it connected, even check that it is working, check it is getting power (watch the lights come on when you revv it up on the trailer), and possibly even pull the solenoid valve apart to check if its clogged up.

also check the basic stuff like ya plugs, plug boots, etc.

If you want to go single carb there is quite a few aftermarket options live the RIVA powerbomb etc, which seems quite common to run as single. A few guys here run the roger parker special…a Mikuni 44mm carb bored out to take a 48mm throttle plate….seems to give really good mid range…good for surf riding

I just changed to twin 44’s from twin 38’s and really happy with them.

If you do want to go single I may have a single carb manifold I could part with.

I have never found water injection to give more low end on a pole ski because they flare the pump to fast and cant get the heat into the pipe
This is my finding everyones maybe different

I peronally single carbs are good for econmy everythingelse i find them to be a lesser cousin to a well set up set of twins

Have a look at pro freestyle boats and see what they run

However this is also my findings as well
    Each to there own

The "roger mod" has been around for a long time and its not a bad mod you can buy them from Novi like that as well
You need to be careful when you change the flow of a carb with out changing the flow of the bombsite , you can find you will move the fuel flow slope away from the air flow charactiristics of the carb to such a degree that you will never get it back with jetting

wow thanks for the help/info guys...

I mite just stick with the tiwn 38s as i got the same size jets as capt was running for roger @ jet works-140/75.

I will strip the water control valve and have a look, and will run it as i have it all set up, its brain is workin(red and green lights).

I will buy a msd ign and sum good coils for it, were is the best place to get that from?

hopfully i kan find a coil for this wekend so i take test it out..

Yo when i was running that pipe my relatively stock 701 had the exact same bottom end as lucas's bored out 760. Dont bother running the pipe without the water injection you will be wasting your time. absolutely no bottom end. I just used the twin 38s with the jetting you mentioned before and running about 1 and a half turns on the high mixture screws. and an msd with stock coil. remember to check your leads and caps and replace your sparkplugs every couple of rides. BR8HS. I did have that silinoid block up once before so check that too.

Make sure you get a new MSD, Probly have to get it from the states or Australian jetski parts, how much are they from them Wax?

Ajsp sponsors my boat so i get a different price on the msd than normal
Im not sure what there price is , however give Craig a call and ask him he will sort you out

You can also use a 760 front cover and run one of my sxr ignitions
that will work very well and i am doing that on my fx1
