If I can't find an after market extended ride plate, is this a good idea? welding an extension onto the standard ride plate? Seems like a cheap option, what are the down sides?

What sort of ski you talking about? Yamaha or kawasaki. Down sides to a long plate is its hard to backflip the flip side to that is your ski will get on to a plane quicker and be more stable in high speed cornering all awesome things for the race track and if thats the case you in the wrong place bud! this is a freeride freestyle forum-cut a big D in the back of it and fuckin yank the gas on and make some stories to tell your mates...

Man i sure was getting worried that with Norm not posting there would be no one on here to fuck people off...Thank God your here sickboi lol.

Yes you can weld onto a standard ride plate so go ahead and try it...If you dont like it you can always cut it off.
On my 650sx i had just over a hundrad years ago i extened mine by about 50mm then cut a "D" out of it...Made a great improvement in the surf and for racing. Give it a try cause you can always just cut it off.

Not sure about 650sx plates...but the stock superjet ones are a pretty thin casting...so maynot be that great to weld onto?

come'on we all know the real reason is cause Norm likes to party like its 1999! ...if ya know what I mean
