Lucas and I have been discussing how we could aquire a freestyle ramp. we reckon if we had a ramp to take to events like freestyle sports open it would help to get more recognition for freestyle in NZ.
I found this on tm reckon we could make it work?

couple of pontoons mounted say half a metre from the bottom, put some rubber/plastic covering on top, coat in thick layer of silicon, one sweet arse ramp!

    Maybe
  3. Looks like itd rust to peices if you put it near salt water. u want one made just of wood i recon.

yeh very true I thought it was galv.

It's also really tall, so would have to be well stableised. but there's always a way round anything!
  6. Second one looks better. wood would be way better. heeps lighter to transport and easier to float. Probly hard to find that sort of ramp built with wood sides tho. Get everyone to go out and find sheets of plywood until we have enough to build one. we can get barrels from the metal salvage place and i can weld them air-tight

no worries on the plywood. i lucky took woodtech at school this year and the asian teacher is a very good friend of mine so will get wood

nah that boards only 7mm thick dude. The hard part would be the framing it would take stacks of 100X50. The easiest way would probably be to modify an existing ramp.
That second one on trademe looked too small anyway we want something 12 to 15ft high like the one on rampt.
  9. oh tru i didnt read the thickness

Im not sure if you guys have made ramps before but I made a couple a few years back and you have to have the ramp as short as you can while still maintaining your height. As soon as you ski hits the ramp it loses all power and slows up real fast.

So you either need to hit it at a stupid rate of knots or try make the ramp slippery so you dont get too much friction.
Also if you make it too steep, its real hard on the hull cos the hull tries to bend in the middle as it goes up.

Have to remember those guys on Rampt are all sponsored so when they smash their skis they get new ones for free!
Unless theres something you guys arent telling me, I doubt any of us are going to get free skis! haha
  11. yeah i smashed the bottom of the nose up on my old sxi hitting ski ramps and they arnt very steep... + the skiers get angry haha

yea our ramp will have to have a smooth transition from the water that one on that second link looks ok. Here at Dalusion the lads are not too worried about carnage and cracks in our skis... or we would have stuck to flatwater tricks! F8ck that!
  13. Sweet Capt. I'll use your ski!!

use teflon sheeting on the ramp that will amke everything nice smooth, I think its rather expensive though.....

nah nothin started at this stage......

I think we probably need to suss out a requirements for it ...like weather we want it so we can tow it on a trailer....weather we have moored somewhere ....and what the deal is if we do moore it somewhere?? or if we want to leave it on shore somewhere and tow it out when we want it etc.

my flatmate was telling me about some windsurfers building a ramp (probably different from what we would want) but sounds like they gona store it on the shore near birkenhead or somethin......
