doing a bit of work on my 650sx to get it going again as it cut out whilst rinsing the motor out with fresh water. pulled the carby off and noticed the intake was full with water? what does this mean? im guessing its not a good sign!
your engines full of water....Not a good thing at all.... If you leave the water running with the engine off the water will go through the exhaust and back fill the engine. I think this is probably a serious problem in your case as its probably been full of water for some time?? With out a solenoid your kind of in the shit. Depending on how long it takes you to get it going, it maybe time for a new crank. Anyway First thing to do is pull the plugs out turn the ski on its side and drain all the water out. Normally this is when you crank the engine over until all the water is out, clean the plugs, fire some engine start down the carbs and get it running. I would run it for at least 10 min or more to make sure every thing is out. I usually ride mine for a good half hour when I flood mine with water. Get working on it Now. Water and engine internals are not friends. Good luck
How long ago did this happen? A good thing to do would be to pull off the barrel, tip the water out of the crankcase and then fill it with cheap red stamp oil from the warehouse then turn the crank over by hand every day untill you have the parts you need to get it running again. Also wipe oil inside the barrel as well and over any other bare metal like rod ends etc If there is rusty water in there then your shit outta luck!
was full for 2 weeks, drained it straight away when i saw it using the drain cable thing that my ski has. sprayed a stack of crc in the intake and down the spark plugs holes. crank is turning sweet by hand. hopefully lucky this time?? thanks for the advice
