What grease should I be using in my UMI steering?

At the moment anything I use is binding up the steering and making it harder to turn.

I use Marine Grease - Shell Nautilus brand. Seems to do the trick.

Do you pack it full, or just coat everything in grease?

sounds like you have other issues rather than grease, o-ring or bearing?

Pack the thrust washers and bearing there. Not the main bearing - just coat that.

As Norm has said sound like you've got something else going on. Have you replaced your O-rings? Is there a tolerance issue now due to wear on any of the plates. I know the main o-ring can wear a ring in the bottom of the turn plate and ends up binding up on it.

The last thing I tried was moly grease, and that worked really well for a few rides, but now its glugged up again. maybe the orings aren't sealing properly.

Don't use a moly grease, use a standard marine grease, I have some if you want to bring it round and do it here, I have touched my UMI for years

standard marine grease dont pack it in to tight
take it apart cleanit make sure nothing is binding nd put it back together
    We use wheel bearing grease
Norm should be the lube expert
