just put my engine back in my ski after having it reinforced and there is quite the gap in my drive cupling (10mm) il try post a pic up later. all the bolts for the mounts line up and i havent changed any thing except added sum keepers. theres no movement in the shaft and no noise when i turn it and it looks like the seal is running on the sealing part of the shaft, the prop doesnt look out of place either. is this gap normal or do i have a problem??

also i took my bilge pumps out they sit on a blowsion bracket that mounts to two of the bolts for that seal assembly i put the bolts back in while work was getting done it the ski but not tight could this have caused my shaft to move back ??

Hi. my engine is as far back as possible and I have a 8mm gap. The manual say between 2 and 4 mm. If you press the short sharft toward the engine you loss spline contact. I am leaveing mine were is as I have not broke a coupling. Just my 10 cents worth. That in my SJ.
  4. Spin the coupler off the motor and add two 2mm large stainless washers behind the coupler when you put it back on. Motor out job though

shes out, i took it out to inspect the shaft check for play ect, hve you come across this problem b4 ???
  6. It's common, Roger Parker set mine up with the washers and i've never had a problem since he did it.

I beleive it's a common problem with the 701 motor.

Just put 2 or 3 in it to take up the gap, they need to be 1" x 2" stainless washers, its a standard size thats about 2mm thick.

Standard thread, maybe put a rope down the spark plug hole to lock the motor
