Hiya. I'm wanting to get something to play with in the surf.. have a Ultra 150 at the mo, but looking at buying a cheapie SX650. I'm prob 100kg+ wet, is it going to have enough power stock or do I need to add pipe, heads, big bore etc to get it to go any good? Been a number of years since I've been on a Pole Ski and totally forgot what its even like lol Cheers
Not many around for cheap cheap.. + I'm looking for something that actually has enough power to pull me out of the water
by the time u add afew performance parts to the "cheap" 650 it will end up costing u the same as a 750 or a superjet which will go better at the end of the day anyway. the words cheap and jetski dont really go together...
I was looking at boring it over as far as it'd go and decking the heads (all stuff I can do myself) I know next to nothing about pole skis.. I take it the 750 hull is different to the 650 hull? I'm just looking for a cheap toy to play in the surf with not a pro class hotrod. 8)
considering price your best choice is 750sx..........they go cheap....... enough power for you to start with even without pipe....
L O L Yep Spanner get a 750, mine is totally stock yet I can keep up with a pair of heavily modified SJ's down here L O L I had a go on a 650 and it was.......slow.
Drugs? My 2c: I wouldn't even bother with a Kawa of any sort. Having owned 2 x 650sx's and a 750 sxi pro I can assure you they are all dogs. The 650's are a bit lighter though. The 750's weigh a ton. Go Yama, don't waste ya time and money on Kawa's. Simple as that, just take a look at what all the experienced riders are on and make your choices from that.
my experience with ski's is they are ALL dogs, but the yamahas go faster, are lighter, and parts are heaps cheaper. ive owned 5 kawasaki skis and now have an SJ, theres no way id go back to a kawasaki, on a side note though, when my 650s went, it was more fun than the 750s
I've had a go on a few SJ's and they are great fun, still not motivated to sell mine and get one tho, the SJ does not do anything that mine doesn't with me riding it so owning a Yami won't make any difference whatsoever. Maybe I'll outgrow this thing at some point, if so I'll look for something to take me a bit further but until then, I've had 16 months of non-stop riding and no reliability issues at all, just had an utter ball with it.
