hi just a question if ya ski get salt water in the engine does it need rebuilding straight away or will be ok ,water was in there for less than 2 hrs ,how much should it cost to rebuild engine with new rings
Did you get the motor running straight away? If you get them going that day and run them for 1/2hr or so normally they are all good. If not you will be looking at new crank etc and not much change from 2k
yeah i got it running about 4 hrs after it took on the water ,it ran good, just wondering if it is worth pulling it apart and putting new seals etc in it and clean it all up,got a price from a mate he said new seals and gaskets would cost about $250
we could give it a go its about time we learnt to do the engines ,use mine as the test ski lo (the hustler)
dont waste ya money or time.. watch this vid, no rebuild necessary but advise you get out on ride it for a good 10 mins asap http://www.sbtontheweb.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12031
Take the fly wheel cover off and check if front crank seal is leaking. If not leave it..But if it is ONLY use yamaha oem crank seals not wsm ones titty1 will have.
one thing to note is...if you started turning the ski over to pump the water out of the sparkplug holes you may have blown out your crank seals, your reeds , and can damage your fuel pump diaphram(s) ... Ideally you should let as much water as possible drain out before starting to turn it over...and disconnect the pulse line(s) when turning it over to clear it .
yeah i drained it good ,i turned it over by hand at first ,then turned it over, going to take it out on the lake tomorrow avo and give it a good run
i ran it for about half an hour on a hose ??is that not the same as taking it out ??im quite new with jetskis
