A annoying problem is my stiff throttle, i have had the cable out looks fine and goes back and forward freely also disconnected the cable from the carbs still connected to the finger throttle and it is free, carbs are really responsive when i flick them with the cable off. So in theory i should have a free throttle BUT I DONT! any ideas? new cable??

    Any help would be great

yeah i just replaced my cable this weekend and was surprising the difference it made, i didnt think the old one was that bad, as it seemed to move freely, when i pushed/ pulled it....but when compared to a new cable, the new cable basically slid in and out with no force

even though the cable feels free when disconnected, it can still be stuffed, they usually bind up under load, the inner liner wears on the bends.
on some the outer steel casing rusts and swells, restricting the inner, but thats usually steering cables.

    I replaced mine with this:

it was 100% better but still not right, so I stripped the carbs and removed throttle shafts, cleaned them up and installed new o rings on the ends, that helped alot. Was surprised how stiff they were after only being 2 years old.

we replace ours with genuine yamaha cables and always lube with crc lever cable and carbs.
