Sinking. How far does the water go?

Yo I just finished de-watering my ski after sinking in the weekend. I was interested to see how far the water that my ski consumed actually got.

As well as the water geting into the obvious places like all inside the cases, chambers and gas tank the water also managed to get into the electrics behind the front cover and bendix.
The fuel filter is full, inside all the fuel lines need flushing including the pulse line. The line between the carbs and the return line hold drops of water. Every removable piece of carbretor had a drop or two of water stuck in it and the gallaries inside the carbs needed flushing under pressure with a can of crc which made them piss out trapped water too!

Every part gets water in somewhere like inside the electrical box aswell.

If your ski sinks there is more to geting it back going then just geting it running again, its a bunch of work haha!

I am replacing with all new yamaha gaskets at the moment but probably wont be riding this weekend cause I need two new engine mounts and a battery mine has crapped out since being full to the brim with salt water no shit I put it on charge and it started leaking water everywhere. Im also guna put new needles in while its all apart mine are quite worn.

And I am going to block off that piece of shit no good scupper valve!

On another note my brand new yamaha hood seal $280 is now torn from one ride!

My new throttle lever to replace the one I broke in the weekend is coming ex japan too

    Life is good!

I just blocked off my scupper valve from inside the engine bay using a 38mm household plug, silicone and a mallet.

Im thinking about whacking an 1100gph pump in there wheres the best place to get one?

You will need to find a big outlet for it though, pull your scupper off and give it to me i love them.

put a tee on it and run it out 2 normal outlets..

or else run 2 500gph pumps

im pretty keen on one of those water sensing models- no fucking around with switches. they pulse every 20 seconds or so to check for water, if the pump loads up it runs until the load is gone.

brad had an auto pump in his ski was pain in the arse. Rewired it to switch a wise old man gave me some advise on bilge pumps (tofa) turn it on when you start the ski and turn it off when you stop the ski life can be so simple. just get a descent pump from burnsco ( you got one at halfmoon bay )

I have a 500gph rule mounted between the back of the engine and the dash board, just far enough away from the drive shaft that the outlet hose and wires wont get tangled up.

I have in the past for customers mounted them in this same spot and also put one inbetween the front flywheel cover and the fuel tank.

Dont see the one inbetween the engine and fuel tank doing much good unless the ski is full of water or sitting flat.

If you wanted to run a big gph pump but their isnt the space just buy two 500's or 550's and mount them either side of you drive shaft.

The way i see it most of the time the ski is moving so the water will be at the back of the engine bay rather than at the front.

    My two cents worth

I am getting cut the bracket that holds a 500gp pump under the drive shaft that bolts to bearing housing not sure of cost yet anyone else want one

Bilge pumps that are between the flywheel cover and tank are a complete waste of time, especially for surf riding. Only useful when doing fountains
