I SERIOUSLY suggest all owners of the 2005..2007 Kawasaki X2 CHANGE the design of their FUEL TANK BREATHER.

The factory breather is a hose up to a U bend by the handle bars and is DIRECTLY IMMERSED during subs and when the ski is on it's side, or upside down.
Pole skis do not normally suffer this problem due to the breather normally being in a large air pocket INSIDE the pole.

I took over 350ml of water out of my fuel tank the other day.
I had fitted a WATER TRAP, but it was getting FULL every day I was out.

I have since CHOPPED the breather hose off INSIDE the hull so it now breathes from a hose cable tied to the TOP of the FUEL TANK.
Now the water trap is lucky to ever have a drop in it. The problem is cured.

TECHNICAL NOTE : Some people may have reservations about doing this.
This has NOT caused any problems with fuel fumes inside the hull on hot days when the check valve vents excess fuel tank pressure. The amount of air that is released is minimal.
The carburettors are just as likely to vent fuel fumes into the hull anyway.
If you are concerned then a FISH TANK AIR STONE may be a cheap BREATHER HOSE FLAME ARRESTOR.

If you do this modification then you can reuse the surplus hose up to the handle bars for bilge pump switch wiring.
If you do fit a bilge pump I suggest a waterproof PUSHBUTTON switch as there is no chance of bumping it and leaving it on to flatten your battery.
    (Burnsco Marine $4.99)

I also suggest adding an INLINE FUEL FILTER between the fuel selector valve and the carbs.

Also if you want additional horsepower then a FACTORYPIPE WETPIPE happily fits the X2 and works GREAT!!!!!

    FactoryPipe Wet Pipe

Mine was a 2nd hand one that I got on Trade-Me and then had to repair.
You will probably have to ask around the shops or bring one in yourself.

    http://www.factorypipe.com/ List price $770.00 US.

Installing it is not difficult but it would be good to have an assistant who is familiar with Mikuni carburettors to change the jets and set the tuning.
