sorry for the potentially dumbass question here:

my superjet seems to porpoise quite a bit.. (especially when the fuel tank is getting empty - less weight at the front..)

i'm told an intake grate should sort things out

What grates are you guys running?

    Is a WR205 'better' than a WR201?

I just muck around in waves/wake, want to ride in surf when I have more practice...
Is one type more suited to this than the other?
    Cheers

you probably find the ride plate will make the difference you're looking for. if you don't want to buy an aftermarket one (but it's better) you can extend your standard one by 40 - 60mm and get alot less porpising

    cheers,
forgot to mention, I already have a protec rideplate, which is a couple of inches longer than the OEM plate...

You're right, it did help the problem, but am still not satisfied...

am wondering whether the ski has perhaps had some repairs or something by a previous owner and is too rear-heavy...

Or I'm just riding it wrong...

the 201 is a deeper more aggressive scoop...it will pull the nose down a bit more...i have one on my ski and dont mind it .....i know other people dont like it and go for the 205

It doesnt matter if you are just playing, anything will fix the problem over a stock one.

sweet as, thanks for the feedback.

one last question - since my engine is pretty well completely stock, would I find the 201 too much of a 'brake' compared to the 205? have any of you found that?

    Cheers

I had the 201 on a stock ski and loved it, keep in mind i have never ridden a ski with the 205. I have never found the 201 to have to much of a braking effect

I also run a 201, have tried many and prefer it....tho I find it has the hell brakes compared to other skis I ride...I like having the brakes, useful. and you soon get use to it. I think the 205 was a smoother ride, but 201 is always hooked up

When dangers ski was stock she put a 201 on it and shit it felt like it just sucked the horsepower out of it. It did hook up real well but not worth the performance loss so she sold it and put a 205 on it and it was noticably better to ride with far more top end speed which you desperately need on a stock boat to make it any good to ride... just my 2 cents!
