FX-1 turning problem

I bought the black and white FX-1 hull that Lincoln has had on Trademe for the last month or so. I picked it up last weekend and spent the week building it into a runner and took it for a ride this afternoon at Orewa.

I have noticed a weird behaviour when it is lent right over in a corner in that I am struggling to get it to lean back up again. It kinda stays stuck riding on its side until I inevitably fall off. This is my fist time riding a ski with tubbies and I was wondering if they are what is causing it to behave like this or if it is something else.

Its worth noting that it has hull extensions at the back to fill in the rear corners, and it also came with rear sponsons, I removed the sponsons and they loosened the rear up a bit but didn't effect the weird turning behaviour. It might be a bit harder to remove the hull extensions as they are glassed to the hull - and they look trick so I don't want to remove them unless I have to.

    Any ideas?

I put the 760 engine, TNT chamber (which took a bit of manipulation with a hammer to make it fit!) water box and fuel tank out of my broken squarenose in it - and a 144mm superjet pump.

guess you just have to learn to ride it now they do feel like they always want to fall over

Yes it also has the extra length added at the front ... do you think that might be the cause Norm?

Here is a picture - it shows how the front has been lengthened and is very pointy instead of the standard bull nose, and the back has been lengthened also.

looks like its designed to go fast man. The nose job looks good i would leave that alone but maybe get whale to do one of his backflip ass chops on the back end if your keen to dick around with it.

Lincoln had a 1200 in it with a magnum pump - so it would have been fairly rapid!

Yer its had some nice work up front, backflip mod could be an option if your keen to get the nose up.

Good point Terry, but why have one good ski when you can have seven mediocre ones! At the moment I actually have eight but the Seadoo is going very soon.

Its actually a combination of several things not the least of which being I am a compulsive bargain shopper. The other reason I got old skis is that I wouldn't get upset if I damaged them while learning how to ride and doing stupid things in the process - a case in point where I snapped the bondline off the back of my ski at Whitianga.
