most of us have footholds...or footholds and strap(s) ...i dont know of anyone with just straps.

to put in footholds (in breif) you need to :
    - remove old mat.
    - cut holes for footholds.
    - glass in footholds.
    - re-mat you ski.
(there is a good procedure on wamiltons website, fair bit of work involved)

to put in straps you need to:
    - pull up mat
    - glass in screw bosses in location you want straps
    - re-mat ski.
    - bolt ya straps on

as far as cost goes for footholds (if you do it yourself) approx:

    -footholds $150
    -expoxy & glass kit $50
    -expanding foam $20
    -new hydroturf $150
    -Contact glue $30

so ya looking at atleast $400 for foot holds

Geez scotti its to late for footholds i just put the new matts in lol.
  5. Footholds are waaaayyyyy better. I've ridden a ski with just straps and it was terrible. In my opinion footholds are the first thing you should add to any freestyle ski.

It depends how you are riding, footholes are o.k for everything (nose stabs, barrel rolls, backflips etc) but I put a strap on my ski and find it much better for barrel rolls as there is no chance of your foot coming out so you dont have to worry about your feet being tight in the footholes. So if you are only doing jumps and nose stabs like 99% of the experts on here then footholes are fine.

I just read a thread on x-h20.com about foot holds vs straps and alot of the top surf guys are saying straps in the surf stance is the way to go and not even worry bout foot holds. They do say footholds are great for learning[thats me lol] but when you want to go big try foot straps[thats white sox, lucas, norm and............ fx1xtc lol]. I ride in the surf stance alot so i might try a strap at the front like norm has.
