701 Problem

Hey there can anyone pls tell me what the hell is wrong with my ski..?

Shes a 95 701 SJ, the prob started last year since then Ive replace the stock exhaust sys for a Factory B Ltd Pipe, Tau Ceti arrestor from Blowsion and had tuned by a dealer here in Chch.

So after 15-20mins of riding normally I'll give it throttle and randomly she bogs, coughs, splutters and throws me flying over the front of the pole.
If i can get off throttle quick enough she return to idle and i can squeeze a couple of knots outta her to get back to the trailer in limp mode.
My thoughts are carb rebuild andy other ideas.??

What jetting did they put in it?

Pilot jet's too small.

AARRGH!

The problem started when ski was completely stock. I rode it maybe a total of 20 hours then the problem started.

Someone told me it was an exhaust problem so I thought Id upgrade to the factory pipe, however problem has just continued...
(dealer only adjusted carb settings on tune, but the problem is still the same as before the aftermarket pipe)

I cant understand why it runs fine for 15 to 20 odd mins then starts doing it.??????

Again my thoughts are carb rebuild and rejet to suit the new pipe BUT problem existed before the mods so can't see why this would help???

You ether have a coil breaking down or your heat sensor is kicking in. Remove the heat sensor and see what that does.

Yeah it's not jetting or it would do it all the time, probably your stator.

Next time it does it
Open the tank filler and see if it sucks in
i am wondering if you have the one valve in backwards

Def don't think this is the cause, problem randomly started doing it oneday.

Nothing was touched before problem started.

Coil, My 3 month old 98 did exactly that 15-20 min then would foul the plugs. They brake down when they warm up. When tested they are fine cause they dont get a chance to heat up. took ages to diagnose. finally we tryed a new coil no more problems! Borrow a coil and give it a try.

Try sucking on it anyway and make sure its letting air in

So far this sounds like a possibilty... my mate tested the coil (cold on trailer) but as you say can't be tested... will give this mission a go.

yea will def give it a try, open to everything, summer only around the corner and no ski aarrrgh!
