Thought there might be a few people interested in this build so will try and document it as we go along, I am no major hurry as long as it's ready for this summer would be good. Starting with a new SXR hull, I am having a Rotax Racing 1050 (big bore 951 motor) built in the states at the moment. Will be running either an Igni Power or Advent T4 ignition, Coffman pipe and Novi Carbs, motor should be around 160-170hp, more than enough in a stand-up... First series of photos, shows the cut you need to make in the Battery Box to allow room for the counter shaft. I am using a kit made by a guy in the USA, that uses a custom driveshaft that retains the stock Sea-Doo PTO (need it to smooth out power) and has custom bed plates, it should be arriving shortly. My goal is to build a reliable ski that should run around 70mph (113kph) and have wicked fast acceleration.. This shows the corner section cut from the battery mount Fire extinguisher bracket removed and lip ground down, so mount plates will sit flat
Modded the electrical box, to fit, this took quite a bit of stuffing around, it's rotated 90 degrees, this allows you to set the motor back further (it clears the sea-doos rear cradle) and also the plug leads reach the motor.
Update: Dropped the ski of at Chris (whale) to fiberglass the mounts in, fabricate carbon fibre fuel tank, carbon reinforce the hull. Engine is getting closer, final specs are: Miller Stage 2 1050 Miller Head with 51cc Domes (pump gas) R&D intake with Team Mean boost bottle Coffmans XPL pipe Novi 46mm carbs ADVENT Ignition Skat Trak 142mm Setback pump with custom drive shaft Should be closer to 180hp Hopefully have it all up and running for Labour weekend, atleast thats the goal!
