My 760 motor seems to get wet plugs every time i leave it for more then a day. So i put new plus in or dry the old ones and its starts stright away. i then use it, wash it and put it away, come back a day latter and it wont fire, i take the plugs out to find them WET (water). Does any one know what is causeing this: SOME MORE DETAILS Rogger rebuilt the motor Jan 08 I got her really HOT a few months ago when it sucked up silt into the cooling lines, but i have done prob 30 hours on it since that little event I have done a compression test and its running good compression (even in both cylinders). The cooling tail tail shows a constant stream of water. SO WHERE IS THIS WATER COMMING FROM and has any one had this before? Cheers Paul
maybe.. ...there may be water still sitting in the pipeand or water box which is condensating back into the cylinders. Do you rev it when pulled out of the water on the trailer... the tone will change when most the water has left the system. as well as this I start mine every cuppla days in the shed to remove any condensation.
Yeah i give it a few hard revs but may be i should give it a bit more, i store it inside with the hood up. Its only really been doing it since i got it hot i think
...have you noticed any loss in power?..- headgasket?...shldve shown in your compression test tho on the back of my blaster II the factory instructions sticker says: 'open and close throttle rapidly for 10-15 seconds to remove water from the exhaust system'
what boat is it in It would seem that maybe its collecting in the water box and then your getting condensation up the exhaust port
And there goes the dummy again. You guys want to kiss and make up. Then post the pictures so we can all have a good laugh.
The reason i am asking what boat it is in , is because the b1 is very prone to doing this due to the shape of there water box it doesnt happen so much on the super jet depending on there pipe if its a superjet then i would be looking for other reasons What pipe is on this engine
Ok the stock 760 exhaust has some holes to add water into the exhaus tflow these are by the stinger which is where the exhaust ends and the rubber starts the exhaust turns down at the back so you cant get to them with out removing exhaust Pull the exhaust off and have a look to see if these holes are blocked I am suspecting they are and this will stop the exhaust draining all the water out and will allow the condensation to come up the exhaust port causing your issue
Righto, that will most prob be the problem as i blocked my cooling lines like 5 times that day after sucking up a serious amount of silt. so im sure a shit load got stuck there. My Brothers GP1200 exhaust was full of silt as well after that ride causing it to over heat all the time. Damn you Kaeo River (up north) and your fine silt loam. Looks like i will have some thing to do this weekend, The waves are to mint to take it apart tomorrow lol
condensation.. Pull plugs and set pistons half way so Exh. ports are both closed. that will eliminate the condens. factor, refit plugs and check in a few days...Cheers Grant. It's a good plan for winter too, (add 2x oil as well...but always spin it wtih plugs out first.)
760 Been told 760 has over 180 deg. xhaust duration so port will be open at mid stroke, sorry..skip that plan and go to tdc and see which has water in...also a head gasket is cheap insurance if it's been hot...
Taken the exhaust of and found the the entire rear end where waterjions with exhaust gases to be totally jammed full of silt. Im waiting on some new gaskets now, but am near 100% sure this is what was causing the problem. Also found that the gasket joining the manifold to the exhaust was buggered prob from pressure build up, causing cooling water to drip into the actual exhaust and thus condensating causing the plugs to get wet when the was sitting for a few days. cheers for all the help......most appreciated !
