so ive been reassembling my ski and testing along the way, it was starting fine when i 1st put engine back in hull. i then connected the plugs and fixed everything down and managed to put the positive and negative leads onto the wrong terminals on the battery, and tried to start it nothing happened. I then put them back to how they were meant to be and still nothing, the box had a fuse which ive replaced and it still wont start. any ideas to what i have fried and will need replacing?
No its not turning over. And starter relay is not clicking. Guessing the starter relay is fried? Can ya put a screw driver over the terminals of the starter relay to check that it still Starts without damaging anything else?
yup you can put a screwdriver across the terminals......you can also unplug the brown (i think...maybe orange?) wire and touch it onto the 12v supply ...that way at least tests the relay too....then you know its a wiring issue or start/stop buttons
I tried the screwdriver across the terminals and she tried to fire up so going with fried relay. Thanks for the help!
I have a spare one if you want it and I can put it on a courier tomorrow. if you want it call me 021747920 with your address.
Oh k so brought a new relay and it was shot before I even connected it up. Have you still got that relay flan? Or has anyone's else got a stater relay for a 97 superjet lying around?
It won't be your starter solenoid Timmy, get a test light and check the fuse holder ends. One should be live,is have 12volts on it. Put the fuse into that side of the holder and test that positive is coming thru the fuse. If no power is there, there is a bad connection or open circuit wire somewhere.
I've had it in at mike Phillips sea do and he went over it checking and fixing parts of the wires. He said I just need a starter relay and it should be all go.
